The act of roughing, breaking, honing or retouching stone is very old. For thousands of years, man has experimented and trialled ways of mastering this raw material and, over time, all peoples have used this material and experimented with new techniques.
The cobblestone that nowadays lines Lisbon's pavements is the result of a long journey in mastering the carving of this material, which requires great skill and practice.
Using experimental archaeology, we will see how it is possible to master the stone and make bifaces, flowers, knives and delicate lamellas, and the Portuguese pavement.
